How to Get Involved
Follow these steps to gain access to work in our shop where we build the car.
Step 1: Complete Required Safety Trainings
All members must complete the following online safety courses before working in the shop:
- EOS 029 - Machine Shop Safety
- ELS 002 - Chemical Safety
- ENV 001 - Hazardous Waste
Steps to complete each course:
- Log into Salute with your Stony Brook email.
- Under the “Safety Trainings” tab, click "Go to LMS".
- Search for the course (EOS 029, ELS 002, ENV 001), click it, then click "Enroll Me".
- Complete the course material and quiz with at least 80%.
- Print out the certificate for each course.
- For EOS 029, also print and sign the last page of the Machine Shop Safety Rules & Agreement (leave SBU ID and instructor blank).
- Submit physical copies of all certificates and the signed EOS 029 page to the Motorsports office.
Step 2: Fill Out the Interest Form
Once you've completed the safety trainings, fill out the interest form so we can follow up with you.
